Introducing the Third Avenue Institute
New non-partisan research institute launches to improve representation of New Yorkers' opinions in city and state government
New York, NY – The Third Avenue Institute, a newly formed nonpartisan nonprofit dedicated to researching the opinions of New Yorkers, is pleased to announce its official launch. The Institute’s mission is to help elected officials and government agencies better understand what New Yorkers think and ensure that everyone’s voice is heard — not just the well-connected and powerful.
“New York is a diverse city with many perspectives,” said Sebastian Hallum Clarke, Founder and Research Director of the Third Avenue Institute. “We believe that by listening more closely to all residents, policymakers can craft solutions that truly benefit everyone.”
The Institute’s first report—focusing on Congestion Pricing—will be released this week. Drawing on data from across the five boroughs, the report will shed light on public sentiment, concerns, and hopes for how a congestion pricing program might shape transportation and quality of life in New York City.
